Indoor air quality

Indoor air quality and smart thermostats

Air purifiers, microbial ductwork services and WiFi thermostats, for Houston-area homes where moisture, dust and damp ducts are the real problem.

Chapter 01

Humid air, loaded filters, damp ducts

In the Houston area, the air inside a house is mostly a moisture problem before it is anything else. The AC pulls water out of the air all summer, and that water has to leave through a clean coil and a clear drain. When it does not, the damp stays in the equipment and the ductwork, and that is where mildew gets started.

A filter that has been left too long does its own damage. It restricts airflow, the blower works harder, and whatever the filter was supposed to catch rides straight through the system and settles back into the house. Dust, pet hair and outdoor pollen get one more lap through every room.

None of this announces itself. People notice a musty smell when the AC first kicks on, a bedroom that always feels stuffy, or dust that returns a day after cleaning. Those are the signs we ask about first.

Purifiers, treated ducts and a thermostat that pays attention

Mr. Chill's indoor air work comes in three pieces. Air purifiers treat the air your family breathes, and the technician matches the choice to your house and your system. Microbial ductwork services treat the duct system itself when mildew or growth has taken hold, which is the same antimicrobial ductwork work described on the duct services page.

The third piece is control. WiFi and smart thermostats let you see what the system is doing and change it from your phone, which helps a household that is out all day and wants the house comfortable when everyone gets home. The thermostat in the photo reads 77 with the setpoint at 75 and cooling on, which is exactly the kind of reading a technician wants to compare against what the equipment is actually delivering.

A technician picks equipment for the house in front of them. We do not hand out a one-size answer, and we will tell you when a good filter and a dry drain solve the problem without anything new.

Chapter 03

What stays on the calendar after the install

Air quality equipment is only as good as the maintenance behind it. Filters need changing on a schedule that suits your house: a home in Cypress with two dogs and a lot of foot traffic runs a different cycle than a quiet one in The Woodlands. Purifier components and drains want a look at each visit.

The cooling tune-up covers filters, duct mildew, air leaks, the condensate drain and thermostat settings, all on one published checklist. That is why the Chill Club, $179 a year with a spring cooling visit and a fall heating visit, makes sense for anyone who has put money into cleaner air. Members also get priority service and no service call fee with a repair.

If you are not sure whether your problem is the ducts, the filter or the equipment, call (832) 698-4273 and describe what you smell, see or feel. The office is open Monday through Saturday, 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM, and Se habla español.
